Honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Manohar David

Vibha is a cause that our family and I have given so much to. Dad got to where he did because his grandmother and mother valued education as the means to financial and spiritual betterment. As a surgeon he worked on thousands of patients for absolutely free and in healthcare, but he was always a scholar, writer and a huge believer in the the power of learning and education to transform lives- values passed on through his mom and grandmother who raised him. His mother, my grandmother, was an educator in India in the 40’s and 50’s- a working woman, an inspector of schools in all rural districts in Tamilnadu. She would travel through villages ensuring that schools lived up to standards and met learning outcomes. Our family’s lores talk about how she would travel to remote areas on bullock carts and on foot at times. Even the village leaders would quake seeing her approach because she did not suffer fools well. It is only befitting, then, for me to start this campaign to honor Dad’s memory on his second year anniversary! For a cause that works so hard to ensure all children have access to quality education! It’s what he’d have loved. Donations can be made in Dollars and INR! 87 cents out of every dollar goes directly to the children. It’s almost 100% volunteer driven organization with even our board and exec ranks filled with passionate and very qualified volunteers. We employ a few experts in India for oversight but that’s it. We are a platinum rated nonprofit with Guidestar, a premium non profit evaluator for financial transparency among other things.
We’d love and appreciate any amount you are able to give. No amount is too small or large for a cause as this and to honor the life, work, spirit and legacy that dad left behind. Thank you
