Dear Friends, My name is Vivek Sharma, and this is my 19th year with Vibha. I am proud to share that, since 1991, we have transformed the lives of 4.8 million children, empowering them with access to quality public education.

Why Do I Volunteer for Vibha? I was born in a small village in rural Himachal Pradesh, India, where money was scarce, resources were limited, and access to quality education was nearly impossible. The local government school was the only option, as the few private schools were too far and too expensive for my family. My primary education was a challenging experience. Our school had a single classroom where all students from 1st through 5th grade sat together on the floor, each bringing a mat from home. We had only one teacher who often missed class, and when present, used a strict authoritarian approach that made learning difficult. My primary education, which should have provided a strong foundation, was shaky at best. Thankfully, things improved in middle school with better teachers. I eventually earned a graduate degree in Finance, worked with various NGOs in Himachal, and later moved to the USA.

These experiences strengthened my belief in Vibha's mission: Improving Learning Levels in Government Schools by Scaling Proven Solutions. Public schools are essential in providing education for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, rural areas, and marginalized communities.
