Fundraising for Vibha Striders 2024

One of the favorite things, I love to do with my kids is read books together. The look on their face and the excitement when they discover something new through the art of reading a book is nothing short of a bliss to me :) 

That being said, for far too many children around the world, the opportunity to learn — a fundamental right — is only a dream. Two-thirds of children in low and middle-income countries leave primary school unable to read and understand a simple story :(  But, there is Hope. We can change this narrative together, by joining Vibha's mission which strives to provide High-Quality Public Education To Every Child. That's why this cause is very dear to me.

Over the past few years, I have rekindled my passion for running. I truly believe that running is for everyone and running opens up new possibilities which otherwise would have held you back. And here I am today, with Vibha Striders, training for my first half marathon.   

Actions speak louder than words, with a community of runners, sticking to weekly training schedules and Sunday endurance runs, though it takes a lot of juggling efforts, it's been fun journey so far and I look forward to crossing the 13.1 miles finish line, on June 2nd 2024 :)

Some of the noteworthy initiatives from Vibha - 

Vibha-Akshara Partnership

The National Education Policy 2019 points out that 50 million children, currently in elementary school, are unable to read, write or do basic addition and subtraction. If action is not taken in the next few years, we could lose 100 million students from the education system.

Ganitha Kalika Andolana (GKA), a multi-stakeholder initiative to improve mathematics learning outcomes of India’s government school system. Started as a large-scale adoption by the Karnataka state Government in 2014 and since then has expanded to Odisha and Andhra Pradesh impacting over 4 million children in grades 1-5, by providing a fun Math learning experience inside classrooms and at home via in-school learning modules, teacher training modules and at-home learning modules.

Vibha-Eklavya Partnership

The archaic Indian education system doesn’t cater towards a holistic development of children that includes but not limited to fostering creative thinking, analytical thinking, problem solving, curiosity, etc.
Eklavya’s programs are designed to be thought provoking, community oriented and aimed at systemic change in the public education system. Parents and community at large are seen as equally important stakeholders who can play a vital role in the continuing learning of their children in rural areas.

Samavesh Urban Project

Many of the government school teachers are not well trained nor do they have the required tools and infrastructure to teach their students which results in improper imparting of education and inadequate learning by the students. This project enhances the capability of teachers by conducting training for them in activity-based learning that can be implemented in classroom teaching. It is presently being conducted in 82 schools in Madhya Pradesh.

Vibha Striders is Vibha’s premier marathon training program. We provide marathon training to new as well as experienced athletes in a close-knit family environment. We strive to help you make running a part of your active lifestyle, stay injury free, and get to the finish line while having a lot of fun.

Vibha is committed to bringing together both the public and private sector to strengthen infrastructure and provide mechanisms for sustainable access to education. Through Vibha's model of seed, scale, and grow, our projects, as an example, have helped expand public education programs from 15 to 43,000 schools in one state in India. As a result, this success has now become the template to expand to other states.

We believe that moulding young minds will give them the freedom to choose a better life. 

Every dollar we raise, is another massive step to helping these kids achieve their dreams.
